How to be involved with the work of the ICB

Reader panel

Our reader panel helps the ICB provide the public with clear information by reviewing leaflets, letters and other materials before they are published or sent out. Panel members check whether more information needs to be included, whether it is relevant and easy to understand, and that people know what to do with the information.

The reader panel includes volunteer patients, carers, and people with particular needs, such as a disability, which might affect their ability to access information.

Examples of things that panel members have reviewed include booklets about winter wellness for older people and on children’s minor illnesses, and also letters to patients on changes to prescriptions. The panel’s feedback has led to changes in the words we use, the layout of material and other visual aspects that have made important information easier to understand.
