Health advice for the Easter weekend

Published: 19 March 2024

Over the Easter Bank Holiday (Friday 29 March – Monday 1 April) make sure you’re prepared to help you stay safe and well.

Over Easter services are still available such as pharmacies for minor illnesses as well as NHS 111 online to refer you for more urgent healthcare support.

If you rely on prescription medication, check now to see if you have enough for the four-day holiday. If you’ve got family or friends staying with you for the long weekend, remind them to bring their own medication with them, so they don’t end up getting caught short.

Pharmacies offer advice on many common conditions like colds coughs aches and pains no appointment needed.

Our website has a list of pharmacies that are open on Good Friday and Easter Sunday: https://hertsandwestessex.icb.nhs.uk/local-servcies/pharmacy

You can also use the NHS Pharmacy Finder to find an open pharmacy near you: www.nhs.uk/find-a-pharmacy

Some GP services will be available over the Easter bank holiday weekend. If you have a health concern, contact your GP practice, or use the NHS 111 online service for quick health advice. If you’re unable to get online, call 111.

If you think you need urgent dental treatment, contact your dentist. If you cannot contact your dentist or don’t have one, use the NHS 111 online service. If needed, an urgent appointment will be arranged at an out-of-hours service.

Urgent mental health issues can be dealt with by calling NHS 111 and selecting option 2.
