Tell Healthwatch about your experience of waiting to get a GP referral

Published: 3 October 2022

Are you or your loved one waiting to get a GP referral? Take part in the latest survey being run by Healthwatch England to share your views.

The independent charity, which uses your voices to help improve health and care nationally, is gathering experiences from people across the country of getting a referral from a GP in the last 12 months.

A GP referral is when a medical professional at a GP practice sends you to a specialist at a hospital or community clinic for further tests, diagnosis or treatment. For example, this might be made for a hip replacement, MRI scan, physio or mental health services.

Whilst referrals made by GPs is an essential part of accessing care, there is a lack of data about experiences of the referral process.

Results from the survey will help identify NHS improvements and will be shared with Healthwatch Essex and Healthwatch Hertfordshire to help irmprove our local services.

Complete the survey and find out more on the Healthwatch website.
