New pelvic health service for pregnant women and birthing people

Published: 31 October 2022

A new service launches in Hertfordshire and West Essex today (31 October) to provide pelvic health support to women/birthing people in pregnancy and up to one year postnatally.

Being pregnant and having a baby has many challenges both physically and emotionally, these can be worsened if you are experiencing complications with your bladder and/or bowel because of pregnancy or labour.

The three acute hospital trusts within the Hertfordshire and West Essex Local Maternity and Neonatal System (East and North Hertfordshire, West Hertfordshire and The Princess Alexandra) have historically provided different levels of perinatal pelvic health support.

The new perinatal pelvic health service will streamline access to the service, clinical provision and provide staff education and development to ensure high quality effective care.

For more information or to be referred to the service, contact your midwife or email your local service by clicking on your local hospital below:

The new service is coordinated by Hertfordshire and West Essex Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS). Stay up to date with the latest from them by following the LMNS on Twitter and Facebook
