Carers Week runs from Monday (5 June) to Sunday (11 June), shining a spotlight on caring, highlighting the challenges family and friend carers face, and acknowledging the huge contribution they make.
The theme is recognising and supporting carers in the community. It’s a good opportunity to help people who don’t think of themselves as carers, to identify as carers so they can access much-needed support.
Check out some activities for Carers Week:
- Carers in Herts also has a series of events going on throughout the week. For more information, visit the Carers in Herts website.
- In Essex, you can find more information on Carers Week on the Essex Carers Support website
For more information about support available for carers, and why it's important to register as a carer with your GP if you are one, visit our support for carers webpages.
Meanwhile, last week, Carers UK – the leading national charity for unpaid carers – announced that the Carer’s Leave Bill has gained Royal Assent and is now the Carer’s Leave Act 2023.
