The ICB’s role in safeguarding children and adults

  • We ensure that the organisations providing health and care services have the right procedures in place to keep people safe from abuse and neglect.
  • We make sure we learn lessons from cases where adults and children come to serious harm and abuse and neglect was already known about or suspected.
  •  We ensure that there are effective arrangements in place for sharing information between organisations where someone might be at risk of being harmed.
  • We employ clinical experts who can provide safeguarding advice to those who work in local health and care services
  • We have ‘designated professionals’ who specialise in safeguarding adults, safeguarding children and safeguarding looked-after children (children in care).

To get more information about the responsibilities of our designated professionals and to learn more about our work, read our safeguarding policies (listed below) or get in touch.
