Our services

The Integrated Care Board works to join up health and care services so that all local organisations are working together to improve the health and wellbeing of individual patients and our population in general.

We also oversee how money is spent and make sure health services are serving patients and their families well.

We work behind the scenes to make sure that:

  • the money that we get from the government to spend on healthcare in Hertfordshire and west Essex is spent in a way that best meets the needs of local patients and makes a real difference to people’s health outcomes.

  • health services are working and performing well and meet expected quality standards

  • everyone has the same opportunity to access NHS services, including making sure that people who need extra medical support or who have limited mobility can get to appointments

  • organisations providing health and care services have the right procedures in place to keep people safe from abuse and neglect

  • medicines given to patients in GP surgeries, hospitals and other NHS settings, and care homes are used well and safely and are providing real benefits

  • adults and children with long-term complex physical or mental health needs receive whatever ongoing healthcare they are eligible for

Local people and communities have a big role to play in our work. We rely on the experiences and perspectives of our communities to help shape our decision-making.
