Hertfordshire and West Essex Joint Forward Plan 2023 - 2028

Foreword

Caring for our residents’ wellbeing and supporting those who face the biggest challenges to living healthy, independent lives, is at the heart of everything we want to achieve.

We are determined to take a proactive approach to health prioritising and resourcing activities which support people to stay well – providing a health service and not just an illness service.  In this way, we can begin to create a healthier future for our population.

Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic showed what can be achieved when communities come together to support each other, with the NHS, councils, the voluntary and community sector working together with a common aim.

Our plan builds on our collaborative approach. It has been informed by listening to the views and experiences of residents and staff, understanding where needs are greatest, and focusing on priority areas agreed with national and local NHS, public and voluntary sector leaders. The plan sets out the key actions we plan to take, together with our partners, over the next five years and has been endorsed both Essex and Hertfordshire Health and Wellbeing Boards.

With the commitment, expertise and resources of the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System behind us, we are confident that we can deliver on our ambition, to help build a brighter and healthier future for everyone who lives and works in our area.
